Primarily, these plants are from the hedgerow where they receive shelter and semi-shade. However it is amazing how they can adorn an awkward spot which most other plants would not enjoy. The tuberous roots should be planted some 10cm below the surface. They also enjoy being planted into drier woodland areas.

Tall stems of very large maroon spathes and a blackish spadix, up to 90cm tall. An unusual looking plant that produces a very strong scent when flowering.

Arum italicum var 'Marmoratum'

Beautifull, large dark glossy green arrow-shaped leaves beautifully marked with silvery veins and patterning. Inconspicuous green flowers in May followed by bright red seed heads in late summer, 20cm.
